TWINPACK EPOXY ENAMEL

Type 

• Based on a hardening Epoxy Resin Catalysed with an Amine Adduct. Epoxy Enamel has limited external applications and is prone to yellowing and chalking. 

Appearance 

• Hard finish with a durable medium gloss. 

Properties 

• When cured (7 days at 25ºC), Twinpack Epoxy Enamel provides a highly durable long life coating with high abrasion resistance and excellent chemical resistance. It should not be applied under damp or cold conditions (under 15 ºC) as this will seriously affect the curing of the coating. Cans of unused and unmixed paint should be kept tightly sealed to prevent moisture contamination. Although Epoxy paint is moisture sensitive and the fumes reasonably toxic whilst in the wet state, the dried film is moisture resistant and nontoxic. 

Surface Preparation 

• Essential for good paint performance is a sound substrate that has been properly cleaned and prepared. All surfaces must be dry, free from loose and flaky material and grease prior to applying the Epoxy Enamel. Epoxy Enamel cannot be applied over conventional Alkyd Enamels. 

1. New Concrete Floors 

Should the topping on the new floor not have been laid, it is suggested to have the surface finished fairly rough as to ensure perfect bonding of the first coat. To give adequate bonding, the texture of the floor must be that of medium sandpaper. Smooth floors can be roughened by sandblasting or Acid Etching. For Acid Etching, mix equal parts Titanium Brick Cleaner and water and spread over the entire floor area. When bubbling has ceased (5 minutes), flush the entire surface with an excess of clean water. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly (at least 18 hours) before applying the following Epoxy Paint System. 

• (a) 1 st coat: Mix together the Epoxy Base and Catalyst and stir well. Add 20% Epoxy Thinners to the mixture and stir thoroughly. Leave to stand for at least 10 minutes before applying. 
• (b) 2 nd coat: Mix together the Epoxy Base and Catalyst and stir well. Leave to stand for at least 10 minutes, then apply.

Application Method: Brush or roller 

Spreading Rate: ± 10m² per litre per coat on smooth surfaces. 

Cleaning of Utensils: Epoxy Thinners. 

Packaging Sizes: 5 L (Base) and 500 ml (Catalyst) 

Colour Range: White and Ermine 

Pot Life: 6 Hours 

Mixing Ratio: Twinpack Epoxy Enamel 9 : Catalyst 1 

Note: It is advisable to complete a test patch on the floor with the System to determine any unexpected problems.
